Fully welded diaphragm seal systems

Increased application safety due to leak-free sealing faces

Challenge

Diaphragm seals are often the best choice, if vibrations, high temperatures or aggressive media need to be kept away from pressure and DP transmitters – provided that gas cannot enter the filling oil in the diaphragm seal system. Leakages in the attachment to a pressure transmitter or at the sealing face of the diaphragm compromise any measurement.

Solution

For a high degree of application safety, the connection between KROHNE pressure transmitters and a diaphragm seal system  (e.g. via capillary tubes) is always fully welded after the system has been filled. In addition, the weld seams of the diaphragms are drawn over the sealing face. There is no contact of the process medium to the less corrosion resistant weld seam and the material transition of the membrane to the base material.

Safety benefits

  • Elimination of potential leakages caused by wrong installation and handling of diaphragm seal systems

  • Fully welded diaphragm seal attachments and sealing faces prevents ingress of gas and contamination of filling oil

  • High measurement performance over the entire system service life

  • Supply of finally mounted, filled, welded and calibrated assembly of pressure transmitter with diaphragm seal system from one single source

  • Various wetted materials and coatings available (e.g. tantalum, PTFE, gold etc.)
